Sam Smart
I've lived and surfed at Sennen for 13 years.
From the age of 16 I life guarded on Sennen and Gwenver for 6 years .
This was a great job as I could surf lots but I couldn't compete at surfing
events .
I managed to get time off for a few contests and often made national finals
. I finished 3rd in one of the British pro junior events.
As a lifeguard I used to watch how surf schools would operate and look for
ways to make a standard surfing lesson more effective, yet fun and safe.
Now that I run the Blue Lagoon Surf School I am putting these ideas in to
practice.
Each winter Ii travel and surf. Last year I worked for the Black Dog Surf
School in Australia, this was great because I learnt certain teaching
techniques that are not used in this country.
So now my life's basically surfing or teaching surfing!
